01 Who we are
Kindoo is building a financial app for Filipino breadwinners and the families they support.
Kindoo is operated by We Innovate in Fintech Inc., a Delaware corporation, at 600 N Broad Street, Suite 5 #4010, Middletown, DE 19709, USA. We Innovate in Fintech Inc. is responsible for your details under this policy, and "Kindoo", "we" and "us" mean that company.
We decide why and how the details described here are used. That makes us the "personal information controller" under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012, and the "data user" under Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
Our registration with the Philippines' National Privacy Commission is in progress. We are not yet registered.
This policy covers kindooapp.com and the Kindoo waitlist, and only what we collect today. Kindoo hasn't launched. Before we offer any account or financial service, we'll publish an updated policy.
02 What we collect
What you tell us when you join
- Email address Required
To hold your place in line, tell you when early access opens, and, if we reach out, to ask about your experience.
- First name Optional
So we can greet you by name.
- Who you are Optional
An OFW abroad, family in the Philippines, a breadwinner in the Philippines, or a partner or investor. It tells us who Kindoo is for.
- Where you're based Optional
The Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE or elsewhere. It helps us decide where to open first.
- How much you send to family each month Optional
A range you pick, from under ₱10,000 to more than ₱100,000 — never an exact amount. It helps us build around what families really send.
Your email address is the only thing you must give us; without it, we can't hold your place. Leaving the other questions blank doesn't change your place in line.
What we record automatically
- When you joined
The date and time. Your place in line starts from it.
- Your browser's user agent
A line of text every browser sends to every website, naming the browser, the operating system and sometimes the phone model.
- Your share code
A short code we create for your personal invite link.
- Who invited you
If you joined through someone's invite link, we note whose link it was, so they move up the list.
- Which page you joined from
We record whether you joined from the home page, the Library, or a particular Library article, so we know which topics matter to the people who join. If you arrived through a link we posted on a Facebook Page, we also record which Page it was. That doesn't move anyone up the list.
We don't store your IP address with your signup, and the form doesn't ask for your phone number, home address or payment details.
If we talk to you
If one of our founders contacts you, we keep a short record: when, how (email, Messenger, WhatsApp or a call), which of us it was, and a note of what you told us. Only our founders can see it.
03 On your device
This site has no analytics, advertising trackers or tracking cookies. If our host ever needs to check that a visitor isn't an automated attack, it may set a short-lived security cookie.
To show your spot again when you come back, the page saves two things in your browser's local storage, a small store on your own device:
- the code from the link you arrived with, if there was one: a kababayan's invite code, or the code for the Facebook Page where we posted the link
- your own share code, and your place in line when you last looked.
When you come back, the page sends your share code to us to fetch your latest place in line. To remove both, clear this site's data in your browser settings.
The share buttons open Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp or Viber with a message and your link filled in. Those apps receive nothing until you tap a button, and we get nothing back from them. Their own privacy policies apply once you do.
04 How we use it, and why we're allowed to
- Hold your place and run your invite link Consent
Uses your email address, when you joined, your share code and who invited you.
- Tell you when early access opens Consent
Uses your email address and first name.
- Ask about your experience Consent
Our founders read every signup and may email you, or message or call you on details you've given us, to ask how you send and save and what you'd want from Kindoo. Uses your email address, first name, your answers and our notes. Replying is up to you. You can ask us to stop at any time, by replying to any message or writing to privacy@kindooapp.com, and we won't contact you again except to tell you when early access opens.
- Decide who to build for and where to open first Consent
Uses the optional answers you chose to give, looked at across everyone on the waitlist.
- Keep the waitlist working, fair and secure Legitimate interests
Uses your browser's user agent and signup details, to spot fake or automated signups and to see which phones and browsers we need to support.
- Meet our legal obligations Legal obligation
If a law requires us to keep or disclose information.
Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act, these are consent (Section 12(a)), legitimate interests (Section 12(f)) and legal obligation (Section 12(c)).
You can withdraw your consent at any time by asking us to remove you from the waitlist. That doesn't affect anything we did before you asked.
What we won't do
- Sell your details, or give them to anyone for their own marketing.
- Send you newsletters or promotions. We'll write when early access opens.
- Use your details for a new purpose without asking you first.
06 Where it's stored
Vercel and Supabase are based in the United States. The waitlist database is in Singapore. The code that receives the form runs in the United States, and Vercel serves pages from the location nearest you. So your details are handled outside the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore and the UAE.
Wherever that happens, we remain responsible for your details under this policy.
07 How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist details for as long as the waitlist is open, and never longer than two years from the day you joined. If Kindoo stops building before then, we delete the waitlist.
If you ask us to delete your details, we remove them from the waitlist within 30 days, and usually much sooner. Copies can remain in our database provider's routine backups for a short time after that, until they're overwritten.
Vercel deletes the technical logs it keeps for us automatically, within 30 days at most. Emails you send us are kept for as long as we need them to help you, and no longer than two years.
08 How we protect it
- Only our server can reach the waitlist database. The web page never holds a key to it, and database rules block every other way in.
- Your details travel over encrypted HTTPS connections, and our database provider encrypts the data it stores.
- Only our founders can see the waitlist, in a private staff portal that needs their own login.
If a breach puts your details at risk, we'll tell you, and the regulators, as the law requires.
09 Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what details we hold about you, and how we use them
- correct anything that's wrong or out of date
- delete your details, or stop using them
- send you a copy of your details in a common format
- stop using your details for a purpose you object to.
To ask, write to privacy@kindooapp.com from the email address you joined with. If you write from another address, we'll ask you to confirm from the one you joined with. Requests are free, and we'll respond within 30 days.
In the Philippines
The Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) also gives you the right to be informed about how your details are processed, to claim damages, and to complain to the National Privacy Commission at privacy.gov.ph. The Commission usually asks that you raise the matter with us first.
In Hong Kong
The Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) gives you the right to request access to, and correction of, your personal data. We respond within 30 days, inside the Ordinance's 40-day limit, and we don't charge for either. You can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data at pcpd.org.hk.
Direct marketing. We intend to use your first name and email address to tell you when early access to the Kindoo app opens. That is the only marketing we'll send you, and we won't send it without your consent. You give consent by joining the waitlist, and you can withdraw it at any time, free of charge, by writing to privacy@kindooapp.com.
In Singapore
The Personal Data Protection Act 2012 gives you the right to access and correct your personal data, and to withdraw your consent. You can complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission at pdpc.gov.sg.
10 Children
The waitlist is for adults. If you're under 18, please don't join. If you think a child has joined, tell us and we'll delete their details.
11 Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects details you've already given us, we'll email you before it takes effect.
12 Contact us
Questions, requests and complaints about your details go to our Data Protection Officer at privacy@kindooapp.com. We reply within 2 working days.
